Third Federal Savings, Cleveland Clinic target urban health disparities

cleveland.com: CLEVELAND, Ohio — In the months since his wife succumbed to pancreatic cancer, Marc Stefanski has been thinking a lot about health care.

His wife, Rhonda, had access to the best doctors and most advanced treatments available. Though she didn’t survive, Stefanski, chief executive of Third Federal Savings, said her medical odyssey made him realize how difficult it would be for people of lesser means to access and pay for top-notch care.

So Friday, he launched an effort to do something about it.

Third Federal’s Foundation, along with the Marc A. and Rhonda L. Stefanski Foundation, is giving $5 million to build a new community health center aimed at addressing health disparities in Cleveland neighborhoods. The Rhonda and Marc Stefanski Center for Community Health Education will be housed in a new facility being developed by Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic.
